Photography Revival

Recently, my school formed a photography club. This is currently the youngest active club in the entire school; it is also one of the few artistically inclined clubs. After a few meetings, I realized that this club has immense potential to become the future of the media within Hillview College.

I am a very active member of this group as a photographer at most times, and a teacher at others.

Recently, the photography club was tasked with the creation of a logo. I lunged at the opportunity since our Facebook page was in need of an official profile photo, and our members are eager to wear the club badge with pride. To wear the badge, we must first have one.

To make a long story short, I submitted my logo.

An aperture containing the symbolic stamp of our school seemed to be the most appropriate choice.

This was a relatively simple task in Photoshop, but the creative juices took a while to flow.

I blame academics for hindering my creativity :P

To put the icing on the cake, I ensured that I used the school's colours of Maroon and Gold in it's implementation. If all goes well, the final logo will be drafted in the coming weeks (since I had forgotten to include the "film" segment of our club) and we'll have a badge!

In conclusion, I simply have wonderful news:

It's good to be back.

Looking forward to the season

The Christmas season will be in full swing within a couple months, followed closely by Carnival.
The creative industry in Trinidad and Tobago will be soon picking up speed in preparation for the grand showcase next February. With school obligations, it will be difficult to have coverage of all the events, but it's going to be an exciting time!

First up is the Art Society of Trinidad and Tobago's Annual November Exhibition at the 101 Art Gallery.
This year will be special since the November exhibition also commemorates the Art Society's 70th Anniversary. I can't wait to see what they have in store, since a special commemorative Anniversary Wall will be on display at the show.

The Art Society's 70th Anniversary Exhibition will be held from Friday 15th November to Saturday 30th November. See you there!

Global Young Leaders Conference 2013

The Global Young Leaders Conference is an exciting part of my future. This prestigious conference is  a unique leadership development program that brings together outstanding young people from around the world to build critical leadership skills.

The Global Young Leaders Conference (GYLC) provides high-achieving students with a greater understanding of their roles as global ambassadors, as they analyze concepts surrounding communications, diplomacy, law, human rights, peace, security, economics and the role of the United Nations. GYLC was designed to educate, inspire and motivate students by giving us the opportunity to explore cultural differences firsthand, absorb diplomatic skills daily, build confidence and enhance decision-making skills.

This initiative extends so many opportunities for developing myself into a better person, and I am thrilled at the prospect of attending this program. However I am also deeply interested in the opportunity to adapt and survive in a foreign country for a ten day period, albeit under controlled conditions. It is a test of independence and principles and a challenge I await with open arms.

During the U.S. conference I will attend, the delegation will travel from the historic capital of the United States, Washington D.C. and venture to New York City to participate in a Global Summit Simulation at the United Nations Headquarters. Along the way, we will interact with officials from various embassies and attend leadership seminars. For a break from the hard work, we will also visit memorials, museums and cultural icons in Washington D.C. and New York City.

Post more again soon!
